Dorie began her professional singing career as a backing vocalist for Francis Dunnery. Their first concert together was at the 2001 Cropredy Folk Festival in the UK. With her natural talent shining from the stage, Dorie was asked to do more tours and recording with Dunnery, both on his own records and other Aquarian Nation releases.
Francis introduced Dorie to many musicians and writers, including Aquarian Nation artists, Chris Difford and John & Wayne. Dorie also found a good match with singer/songwriter, William Topley (The Blessing). Dorie joined Topley on several acoustic tours (with Luke Brighty). Topley asked Dorie to sing on his last three albums: 'Sea Fever', 'All in the Downs' and a recently recorded acoustic album 'Los Ciganos del Mar'.
With feet firmly planted on the ground, it was only a matter of time before Jackson would begin the process of writing and recording her own songs. Dorie and Francis Dunnery began writing songs together back in 2001. In 2004, they finally sat down and started recording. Their years of effort writing and recording resulted in Dorie's debut solo album, The Courting Ground. The album is about all the things a girl goes through, such as unrequited love, body image issues, and meeting the one. The album has been extremely well received, many finding it difficult to believe this could actually be her debut album. The clever lyrics and layers of rich vocals create a truthful, unique and beautiful landscape.
